Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gatis Ginters (ranked 25177 p4p, 4602 weight class) and Dimitri Magomedov (ranked 515 p4p, 446 weight class). Dimitri Magomedov has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Gatis Ginters's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gatis Ginters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dimitri Magomedov!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick from Ginters lands but Magomedov takes it in his stride.
Ginters really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ginters throws out a powerful jab.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ginters is trying to break the clinch but Magomedov is controlling him.
Ginters misses with the head strike.
Magomedov manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
A frustrated look appears on Ginters's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Ginters trying to land knees to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Magomedov successfully pulls guard.
Magomedov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ginters's guard.

Magomedov won't allow Ginters to sweep him here.
Magomedov not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ginters trying to control the position.
Magomedov looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Magomedov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ginters is keeping the position for now.
Ginters is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Magomedov engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Magomedov's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Ginters looking to control.
Magomedov content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Ginters throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Magomedov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ginters darts in looking for a takedown but Magomedov gets double underhooks and turns Ginters into the cage.
Magomedov tries to counter by closing the distance.
Ginters has had enough of the clinch but Magomedov keeps him there for the moment.

Magomedov has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Ginters clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Magomedov has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Ginters's body.
Magomedov lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Ginters.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
More stalling from Magomedov.
Ginters rolls, trying to escape but Magomedov keeps control of the position.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
It looks like Magomedov might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dimitri Magomedov dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Ginters shoots in and drives through. Magomedov sprawls well.
Magomedov has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Ginters fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Magomedov, pushing him back against the cage.
Ginters trying to land knees to the body.
Magomedov is pushing Ginters up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Ginters is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Magomedov to keep the fight standing.
Magomedov prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gatis Ginters. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ginters gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Magomedov regains guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Magomedov is on top in guard.


Ginters pushes a forearm under Magomedov's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Magomedov is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
