PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darsin Bleak (ranked 329 p4p, 596 weight class) and Bruce White Jr (ranked 50 p4p, 85 weight class). Bleak kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Enter Sandman. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

With a record of 19 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Bruce White Jr!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White Jr tries to clinch up.
White Jr misses with a right hand
and Bleak counters with a straight right hand.
White Jr thuds a left hand into Bleak's body.
White Jr tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bleak was well out of range. Poor timing from White Jr.
White Jr throws the left hand but Bleak avoids the punch easily.
Bleak defending well as White Jr loads up on a big left hand.
Bleak takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
White Jr missing with a left hand there. Bleak was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Bleak drops down looking for a counter takedown but White Jr sprawls and moves away.

and Bleak connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Bleak shoots in and bounces White Jr off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

We've been hearing that Bleak has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Bleak has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

White Jr wants to counter with a clinch but Bleak pushes him away.

White Jr throws out a loose jab but Bleak uses good head movement to avoid it.

White Jr scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bleak doesn't seem bothered though.

Bleak shoots in looking for a takedown but White Jr manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bleak's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

White Jr throws a looping overhand right but Bleak ducks down to avoid it.

Bleak looking to sit in guard and control but White Jr gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Bleak working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. White Jr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. White Jr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bleak looking for subs off his back but White Jr has passed one foot through into half guard.
White Jr really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bleak. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bleak is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute White Jr jumps into side control!

Bleak drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

White Jr sneaks out the side door and pushes Bleak away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Bleak dives in and grabs White Jr's left leg, looking for a takedown. White Jr pushes down on Bleak's head and hops out.

White Jr throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Bleak is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bleak was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Bleak has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bleak there as he acknowledges the shot.

Bleak takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
White Jr lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Bleak throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bleak shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as White Jr sprawls well. White Jr wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bleak gets slowly back to his feet.
Bleak ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Bleak lands with an uppercut that bounces White Jr off the cage and back into range.
White Jr has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bleak uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from White Jr.
Bleak needs to keep his hands up - White Jr had a free shot at his head there.

Bleak takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
White Jr stuns Bleak with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
White Jr uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bleak.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
White Jr lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Bleak tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but White Jr defends well and Bleak ends up having to push White Jr into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
