Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Steve (ranked 3750 p4p, 1674 weight class) and Rico Van-Plant (ranked 441 p4p, 223 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 31 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jay Steve!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Rico Van-Plant!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van-Plant slips a jab and a cross from Steve.
Van-Plant dives in for a single leg takedown but Steve sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

We've been told by Steve's head coaches at Desert Fitness & Training (14 Elite Coaches) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Steve just misses with a punch to the body.

Steve feints and then cracks Van-Plant's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Van-Plant down.

Van-Plant has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Steve can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Steve is working Van-Plant over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
