PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cam Fleming (ranked 1433 p4p, 2319 weight class) and Derek Hunter (ranked 209 p4p, 325 weight class). Fleming comes into the arena with Killa Cam - Cam'Ron blaring out of the sound system. Derek Hunter will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cam Fleming!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Derek Hunter!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Fedor Mirinova and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter connects with a high kick.
Hunter fails with an attempt to clinch.
Fleming circles away from the clinch attempt
and Fleming counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Fleming.
Fleming stands up over Hunter, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Hunter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fleming doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fleming manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fleming chips away with some ground and pound.
Hunter looking for a guillotine here but Fleming defends easily.

Hunter looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hunter has momentary wrist control but Fleming slips an elbow through the middle.

Fleming lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Fleming distracts Hunter with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Hunter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fleming gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Fleming is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Fleming lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fleming postures up and lands a big shot to Hunter's brow.
Hunter is rocked!
Fleming cracks Hunter with a solid left hand.
Hunter is still in real trouble! Can Fleming finish him?
Fleming lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Hunter told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Fleming stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hunter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fleming loads up on a big left hand. Hunter felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Fleming looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Hunter can't hide his disappointment, as Fleming celebrates the victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cam Fleming!
After the fight, Cam Fleming was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
