Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dean Howard (ranked 3948 p4p, 5109 weight class) and Peter Golles (ranked 437 p4p, 478 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Golles tries to clinch but Howard is having none of it.
Golles's corner calls for a 1-2. Golles obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Golles looks to land a right hand but Howard moved out of range.
Howard tries to counter with a takedown but Golles is quick to defend against it.
Golles throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Howard sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Golles throws a looping overhand right but Howard ducks down to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peter Golles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Howard drops down looking for a counter takedown but Golles sprawls and moves away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Golles is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Howard has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Golles sneaks out the side door and pushes Howard away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Golles misses with a straight left.
Howard moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Golles scores with a decent looking hook.
Peter Golles is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Howard takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Howard changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Golles looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Golles wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Howard is looking to take a break and control but Golles is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Howard tries to move to mount but Golles blocks the move with his legs.
Golles is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Howard has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Golles stops Howard from passing to mount.
Howard lands a nice forearm strike.
Golles is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Howard trying to control the action but Golles is working from the bottom.
Golles prevents Howard from improving position.
Golles pushes Howard away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Howard gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Howard advances to mount.
You get the feeling that Golles really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Howard connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Howard trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Howard landing strikes, looking to finish!
Golles's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Howard unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Golles wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Howard celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
