Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stepan Grachev (ranked 2045 p4p, 2038 weight class) and Carter Williams (ranked 273 p4p, 272 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stepan Grachev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carter Williams!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grachev tries to clinch but Williams is having none of it.
Grachev moves out of range as Williams strikes.
Williams misses with a looping left.
Grachev slips under a jab.
Williams misses with a hook. Grachev ducked under it nicely.
Grachev fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Williams on the side of the head.
Williams tries a head kick but it misses.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Grachev checks a leg kick.
Williams moves out of range of the strikes.

and Grachev counters with a leg kick.
Grachev checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Williams will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Grachev throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Grachev takes a swing at Williams's ribcage but misses.
Grachev lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Grachev delivers a nice body kick.

Grachev takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Grachev thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Williams if he has to take too many more of those.
Carter Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Williams rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Grachev finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Williams misses with a straight left.
It looked like Grachev wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Grachev fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Williams, pushing him back against the cage.

Williams pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Grachev counters with a slapping leg kick.
Williams misses with a two punch combination.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Williams has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Williams shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Grachev cracks Williams with an open hand slap.
Williams lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Grachev dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Donk. Williams catches Grachev right on the button with a cross.
Grachev connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Williams looks to land a left hand but Grachev moved out of range nicely.
A head kick misses from Williams.
Grachev goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Williams throws a body punch but Grachev moves out of range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Williams takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
It looks like Grachev has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

Williams is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Grachev.
Grachev takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Williams changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Grachev throws an overhand right that lands on Williams's shoulder, as Williams tries to avoid the shot.
Grachev takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Grachev is rocked!
Williams fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Grachev out cold! Brutal finish!
