PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bocephus Champo (ranked 4021 p4p, 4030 weight class) and Ethan Glenn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bocephus Champo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ethan Glenn!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Champo finds it's target.
Glenn uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Champo.

Glenn instigates a clinch.
Glenn goes for a takedown in the clinch but Champo prevents it.
Champo wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Champo is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Glenn pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Glenn lands a shoulder strike.
Champo is trying to push Glenn away but Glenn has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Glenn decides to pull guard.
Champo throws an elbow that misses. Glenn uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Champo's guard. Nice move by Glenn!

Glenn controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Glenn decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Glenn tries to sprawl but Champo drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Glenn has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Champo is on him like a limpet, forcing Glenn back against the cage.

Glenn breaks the clinch.
Glenn tries for a takedown but Champo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Champo finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Glenn feints the counter takedown.
Champo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Glenn fails with the takedown.
Bocephus Champo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ethan Glenn.
Champo jabs Glenn right on the nose. Glenn blinks but takes it well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Glenn misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Champo has a takedown stuffed.
Glenn tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Horrible takedown attempt by Glenn or perhaps it was just good defense by Champo, which made it look bad.
Glenn takes one on the button.

It looks like Ethan Glenn has been cut.
Champo is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Champo is looking to clinch but Glenn is avoiding it.
Champo throws a leg kick but Glenn moved away.
Champo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Glenn moves away.

Glenn closes the distance and clinches.
Champo is trying to push Glenn away but Glenn has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Champo is trying to break free.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Glenn takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Champo wants to break free but Glenn has control.
Champo is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Glenn pulls guard effortlessly.

Glenn pulls Champo in close to his closed guard and prevents Champo from doing any damage or advancing position.
Champo missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Glenn lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Glenn gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Champo is breathing heavily.
Champo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Glenn looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Glenn lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
No luck for Glenn with that takedown attempt.
Champo lands a nice shot that snaps Glenn's head back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Champo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Glenn sprawls well. Glenn wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Champo gets slowly back to his feet.
Champo's jab looks to have found its range, popping Glenn under the eye.
Champo tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Glenn counters with a one-two to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Glenn has taken the fight to the clinch.
Champo throws an elbow that misses.

Glenn manages to break the clinch.
Champo misses with a left hand
letting Glenn counter with a right hand.
Champo connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Glenn shoots in but Champo avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ethan Glenn dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ethan Glenn's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Glenn shoots in for a takedown but Champo shows good takedown defense.
Glenn lets loose with a powerful body kick. Champo will feel that in the morning.
Champo lands a glancing blow to the side of Glenn's head.

Champo misses with a straight right.
Ethan Glenn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice sprawl there from Glenn as Champo shoots in.
Champo throws a poor cross that misses
and Glenn counters with a series of strikes. Champo will be more careful next time no doubt.
A swing and a miss from Champo.
Glenn fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A jab from Glenn does it's job there.
Glenn has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Glenn misses with a head kick.
Champo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Glenn paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Champo lunges at Glenn with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Glenn's hand.

Champo lands a lovely overhand right.
Champo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Glenn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

A big left from Champo misses.
Champo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Champo looks to land a right hand but Glenn moved out of range.
Champo is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Champo looks to score with a jab to the body but Glenn is just out of range.
Glenn tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Champo defends well and Glenn ends up having to push Champo into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Glenn pulls Champo into guard.
Champo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Glenn on the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Glenn is on top in guard.

Glenn gets to his feet. Champo looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Glenn tries to score a power double leg takedown but Champo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Glenn somewhat.

and Glenn counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Glenn fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Glenn takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Glenn swats away the attempt to clinch by Champo.
Glenn drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Champo defends it well.
Champo scores with a nice right hand.

Champo is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Champo throws a sloppy head kick and Glenn moves out of range easily.
Glenn is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Glenn drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Glenn stands up and beckons Champo to his feet.

Glenn clinches.
Champo lands with a short shot to the head.

Champo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Glenn tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Glenn fails with a takedown attempt.
Glenn moves in looking to clinch but Champo pushes him off.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Ethan Glenn will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Bocephus Champo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Glenn enables Champo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Glenn manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Glenn kicks Champo off and gets to his feet.

Glenn is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Glenn is still on wobbly legs! Can Champo finish him?
Champo circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Glenn drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Champo follows Glenn to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bocephus Champo!
Bocephus Champo bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
