PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between The Devils Outlaw (ranked 1346 p4p, 2174 weight class) and Zygmunt Krol (ranked 154 p4p, 237 weight class). Outlaw comes to the cage accompanied by Moonshine Bandits For The Outlawz. Krol has chosen Hammer Smashed Face Live as his entrance music. Zygmunt Krol has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, The Devils Outlaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Zygmunt Krol!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Outlaw, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Outlaw cracks Krol with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Outlaw throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Krol tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Outlaw is in Krol's guard.
Outlaw throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Krol works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Outlaw trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Outlaw throws a big elbow that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Outlaw throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Krol works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Outlaw throws a strike but Krol rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Outlaw is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Krol is controlling him.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Outlaw wants to stand and escape but Krol is having none of it.

Krol really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Outlaw. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Krol has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Outlaw throws out a loose jab but Krol uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Outlaw cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Outlaw connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Outlaw shoots in for a takedown but Krol shows good takedown defense.
A clash of legs there as Krol blocks the low kick.
Krol looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Outlaw misses with a takedown attempt - Krol sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Outlaw is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Krol can do to turn this around?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Outlaw fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Krol, pushing him back against the cage.

Krol throws a punch but it's blocked by Outlaw.
Krol lands with a light punch inside.
Outlaw has Krol pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Krol manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for The Devils Outlaw. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Outlaw has Krol pressed against the cage, preventing Krol from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Outlaw blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Krol escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice straight punches there by Outlaw. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Outlaw.

Krol throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Outlaw misses with an uppercut.
Outlaw tries to clinch there but Krol circles away.
The Devils Outlaw is winning the standup battle so far.
Outlaw scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Outlaw defending well as Krol loads up on a big left hand.
Outlaw throws a head kick that Krol semi-blocks.
Outlaw is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Outlaw shoots in looking for a takedown but Krol manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Outlaw's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The Devils Outlaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Outlaw pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Krol back to the cage. Outlaw follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Outlaw wants to clinch.
Outlaw fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Krol on the side of the head.
Krol throws a shot from downtown. Outlaw moves away and avoids it.
Krol takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Krol slaps away a takedown attempt from Outlaw, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Outlaw misses with a few strikes there.
Outlaw fails in his attempt to clinch.
Krol blocks a head kick by Outlaw.
Outlaw goes for a double leg but Krol avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Krol continues to drive forward.

Krol is fighting off a takedown attempt but Outlaw is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Krol to the mat. Krol regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Krol is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Outlaw stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Krol swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The Devils Outlaw overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Outlaw tries to clinch but Krol is having none of it.

Outlaw looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A little jabbing left from Krol on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Outlaw.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Outlaw fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Outlaw cracks Krol with a big right hand but Krol just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Outlaw has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Outlaw accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Krol is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Outlaw throws an elbow that misses. Krol uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Outlaw's guard. Nice move by Krol!

Outlaw wants to stand but Krol is controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Krol is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Outlaw is wriggling around but Krol manages to pass to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
The Devils Outlaw showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Outlaw, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
