Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rob Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Tino Takala!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takala misses with a two punch combination.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Takala as he jumps to the side.
A slapping leg kick lands for Takala.
Smith slips a jab and a cross from Takala.
A little feinted left hand from Smith on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Smith lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Takala throws a quick inside leg kick.

Smith drives through and clinches with Takala against the cage.
Smith has Takala pressed against the cage, preventing Takala from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Smith lands a nice uppercut.
A short body shot lands from Takala as the two fighters clinch.
Smith definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith swings wildly with an uppercut but Takala uses good head movement to avoid it.
Takala lands a hook that snaps the head of Smith backwards.

Takala breaks from the clinch.
Takala throws a leg kick which misses Smith's front leg but catches the back leg as Smith tries to avoid it.
Takala rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Smith forces Takala back against the cage and clinches.
A head punch on the inside from Smith fails to land.
Takala looking to stall.
Takala working hard to break the clinch.
Smith is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Takala is defending well.
Takala working hard to break the clinch.
Smith is looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rob Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Takala manages to break the clinch.
Takala throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Takala throws a series of punches but Smith moves out of range.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Takala paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Takala misses with a hook
and Smith counters with a right hand to the body.
Smith tries to clinch up but Takala circles away and keeps his distance.

Smith closes the distance and pushes Takala back into the cage.
Takala tries to work over Smith's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith lands a right hand that snaps the head of Takala backwards.
Takala gets through Smith's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Smith throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Takalas head.

Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Smith scores with a shot to the body.
Smith fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Takala.
It looked like Smith wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Takala circles away from the clinch attempt.
Smith tries to clinch but Takala moves away
and Takala counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

It looks like Rob Smith has been cut.
Smith is looking to clinch.
Takala is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Smith circles away from the clinch attempt.
Takala doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Smith tries to clinch but fails miserably
letting Takala counter with a right hand.
A big right from Smith misses.
Smith sets himself, and Takala steps forward looking for the clinch! Smith avoids it this time.
Takala closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Smith! Takala dives in looking to finish! Smith is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tino Takala!
Tino Takala seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
