PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mate Orsic (ranked 520 p4p, 544 weight class) and Conspiracy Theorist (ranked 84 p4p, 90 weight class). Orsic comes into the arena with KRS One - Rappaz R. N. Dainja blaring out of the sound system. Theorist has chosen MoonDeity - WAKE UP! as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Mate Orsic has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mate Orsic seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

With a record of 19 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Conspiracy Theorist!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orsic looks to land a left hand but Theorist moved out of range nicely.
Theorist doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Theorist looks to throw the jab but Orsic is out of range.
Orsic gets the takedown into side control.
Theorist is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Theorist sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Orsic uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Theorist.

Orsic drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Orsic closes the distance and clinches up with Theorist, looking for a takedown. Orsic pushes Theorist against the cage but Theorist circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jab, jab by Orsic - just one landing.
Orsic takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Theorist misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Orsic swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Theorist swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Orsic is looking to clinch but Theorist is avoiding it.
Orsic tests Theorist's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Orsic thows a left - swing and a miss!

Theorist swings widly with a right hand
and Orsic counters with a lovely straight right hand!
It looks like Conspiracy Theorist has been cut.
Orsic tries to bum rush Theorist with a series of wild strikes but Theorist uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Conspiracy Theorist is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Orsic moves out of range as Theorist strikes.
Orsic tries to clinch but Theorist moves out of range.
Theorist lands with a nice body punch.
Orsic displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Theorist throws out the jab.

A quick step to the side and Orsic tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Conspiracy Theorist will probably get the nod.

It looks like Orsic has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Theorist fails to land with a series of punches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Theorist throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Orsic sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Theorist fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Orsic on the side of the head.
Theorist finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Orsic's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Theorist falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mate Orsic!
A very excited looking Mate Orsic made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
