Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Envy (ranked 4624 p4p, 4514 weight class) and Josea Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Envy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josea Silva!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Envy stuck in half guard on the bottom here.
Silva is looking to take a break and control but Envy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
Envy is not content to let Silva control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Envy tries to improve position but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Envy is trying to control Silva's posture but Silva avoids it.
Envy is looking to regain half guard here but Silva keeps moving and retains side control.
Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Envy keeps working.
Envy can't do much from the bottom here.
Envy is looking for a sweep.
Silva misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Envy is not content to let Silva control the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Envy misses with a head kick.

Envy rushes Silva and presses him up against the cage.
Envy is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Silva is defending well.
Envy is trying to push Silva away but Silva has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Silva is trying to pull guard but Envy turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Envy keeps control of Silva as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Envy has Silva pushed against the cage.

Envy jumps into guard, dragging Silva to the mat.

Envy wants to control but Silva passes easily into half guard.
Silva is thwarting Envy's attempts to control the position.
Silva throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Silva is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Envy has managed to free his arm - good work.
Silva wants to control but Envy is keeping him busy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Silva sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Envy defending well though.
Envy is looking for a sweep. Silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Silva wants to pass the guard but Envy is defending well.
Envy keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Silva seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Envy does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Silva is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Josea Silva will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Envy stuffs the takedown.
Horrible takedown attempt by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Envy, which made it look bad.
Envy seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Envy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Silva tries to clinch there but Envy circles away.
Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Silva pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Envy has Silva up against the cage in a clinch.
Envy wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Silva can't find room to land a body shot as Envy controls the action.
Silva trying to control the position but instead, Envy has worked for underhooks and has pushed Silva into the cage.
Silva is working for takedown but Envy is calmly controlling the position for now.

Silva jumps guard but Envy turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Silva blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Envy can't get the takedown.

Envy drags the fight down to the ground.
Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Envy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Envy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Silva's guard.

Envy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Silva can do to turn this around?

Silva utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Silva is trying to hold Envy in close to prevent damage but Envy has managed to pass into half guard.

Envy seems to be working for a kimura but Silva defends the submission attempt.
Well, if Envy is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Envy decides to stand and escape the position.

Envy pushes Silva up against the cage in a clinch.
Envy taking a breather.

Silva has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Envy uses from the top position.

Envy slips nicely into half guard.
Envy thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Envy has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Envy unloads with some shots from mount but Silva bucks and avoids them well.
Silva tries to hold on but Envy pushes him away.
Silva is looking to get to half guard.

Silva manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Envy stalling.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Envy dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Envy gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Silva jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Envy walks away with a smile on his face. Silva gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Silva closes this distance looking for a takedown but Envy circles away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Chris Envy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Silva moves nicely into side control.
Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Envy keeps working.
Envy wants to control but Silva postures up.
Silva is looking to take a break and control but Envy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Envy is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Silva is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Envy is desperately trying to improve his position but Silva has a good base and remains in mount.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Envy controlling the position for now.
Silva is taking a breather. Envy says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Silva walks into a jab.
Nice takedown defense from Envy. No joy for Silva on that attempt.
Envy dives in and grabs Silva's left leg, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes down on Envy's head and hops out.
Envy fails with the takedown.
Josea Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Chris Envy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Chris Envy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Silva shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Envy but Envy pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Chris Envy showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Envy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
