PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shingen Takeda (ranked 1524 p4p, 2147 weight class) and Renato Oliveira (ranked 208 p4p, 279 weight class). Takeda comes to the cage accompanied by Now We Are Free. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shingen Takeda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Renato Oliveira!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jorge Garcia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliveira looks to land a left hand but Takeda moved out of range nicely.
Takeda seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Oliveira takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Oliveira moves to clinch but Takeda breaks away
and Oliveira takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Oliveira slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Takeda throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Oliveira fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Oliveira throws an overhand right that lands on Takeda's shoulder, as Takeda tries to avoid the shot.
Takeda smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Oliveira has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Takeda swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Takeda closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Oliveira to the mat! Oliveira manages to get full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Takeda drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Oliveira dives on top into guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Oliveira stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takeda swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Takeda has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Oliveira can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Takeda really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Oliveira frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Takeda is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Kaer Morhen, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Oliveira jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Takeda is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Takeda and Oliveira has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That was a close round but I would say that Shingen Takeda will probably get the nod.

Takeda sizes up Oliveira with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Takeda ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Oliveira moves away.

Takeda closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Oliveira quickly recovers to half guard.

Oliveira is controlling Takeda's trapped leg to prevent Takeda from advancing to side control.
Oliveira is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Takeda's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Takeda's back!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Takeda has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Oliveira is working away from the top position though.

Oliveira might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Takeda haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Oliveira thuds a left hand into Takeda's body.
Oliveira looks to land a left hand but Takeda moved out of range nicely.
Takeda takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Oliveira looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Takeda is fending him off so far but Oliveira persists. Nope, Takeda circles away and we're back to standing.
It looked like Takeda was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Oliveira.

And that's the end of the fight!
Renato Oliveira comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Takeda has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
