This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 18 wins and 22 losses; Vartan Esteves! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 33 wins and 14 losses; John Lee!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Phil Schofield and Steven Brown.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.

Lee clinches up with Esteves and pushes him back against the cage.

Lee is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Esteves can't fight it off and eventually Lee manages to take the fight to the floor. Esteves looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Esteves escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lee gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Esteves swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Esteves has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Lee is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Esteves.

It looks like Lee might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
