Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jamil Hurst (ranked 864 p4p, 614 weight class) and Atakan Akkaynak (ranked 124 p4p, 90 weight class). Hurst comes to the cage accompanied by Keep Their Heads Ringin'. Jamil Hurst has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamil Hurst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Atakan Akkaynak!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hurst has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hurst there as he acknowledges the shot.
Akkaynak has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

It looks like Atakan Akkaynak has been cut.
Akkaynak bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Akkaynak keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hurst digs a good body shot into Akkaynak's ribs.
Hurst's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Akkaynak connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Hurst scrambles back to his feet.
Hurst loads up on a big right hand but Akkaynak slips the punch.
Hurst blocks a head kick by Akkaynak.
Hurst works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Akkaynak throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hurst has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Gunner's School of Combat in the buildup to the fight.

Hurst shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Akkaynak is trying to control but Hurst manages to pass to mount!

Akkaynak seems to have recovered his senses.

Hurst is looking to advance position but Akkaynak won't allow it.
Well, if Hurst is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Akkaynak is doing well to control the position and prevent Hurst from advancing to side control.
Akkaynak is staying active underneath Hurst, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Akkaynak tries to get to full guard but Hurst has control of the leg.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Akkaynak working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Akkaynak is keen to just control but Hurst is a slippery customer.

Hurst throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Akkaynak works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hurst not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Akkaynak looking for a sweep. Not yet Akkaynak, not yet.
Hurst trying to control but Akkaynak is working from the bottom.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Hurst working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Akkaynak lands an overhand right.
Hurst blocks a head kick by Akkaynak.

Akkaynak closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hurst circles away.

Hurst connects with a looping right hand.
Akkaynak takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Atakan Akkaynak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hurst works Akkaynak's body with a nice hook.
Hurst lands a nice hook to Akkaynak's body. Akkaynak takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Akkaynak is breathing heavily.

Hurst throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Akkaynak tumbling to the canvas!

Akkaynak is rocked!
Hurst gets to his feet and stands over Akkaynak, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Akkaynak felt that one! Hurst unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Akkaynak from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jamil Hurst!
