PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jun Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Digger Mcgee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcgee has chosen Carmina Burana as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jun Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Digger Mcgee!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcgee displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kimura.
Kimura looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Kimura drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Mcgee is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kimura is controlling him.
Kimura passes Mcgee's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Mcgee misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Kimura is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mcgee doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kimura.
Mcgee pushes Kimura off looking to stand but Kimura dives back in and keeps control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kimura is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Kimura fails to move to back control.
Mcgee wants to try and get back to his feet.

Kimura is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Mcgee has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Mcgee!
Kimura is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mcgee thows a big elbow that misses.

Kimura working for a triangle but Mcgee defends it easily.
Kimura looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Mcgee would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Kimura isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mcgee stacks Kimura on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mcgee!

Mcgee wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kimura, who protects the arm well.

Mcgee stands up and beckons Kimura to his feet.
Mcgee doesn't manage to clinch there - Kimura circles away.
Mcgee scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mcgee gets a clinch.
Kimura blocks an uppercut.
Kimura has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mcgee avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jun Kimura. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kimura tries to pull guard but Mcgee won't allow it.
Kimura jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mcgee walks away with a smile on his face. Kimura gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Mcgee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Kimura paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kimura takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Mcgee shoots and misses

and Kimura counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Mcgee trying to control the position.
Kimura stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mcgee swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kimura slips nicely into half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Kimura is looking to pass Mcgee's guard but actually Mcgee recovers to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mcgee is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kimura controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Mcgee wants to stand and escape but Kimura is having none of it.
Kimura advances position into side control!
Mcgee is not content to let Kimura control the position.

Kimura tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Kimura is breathing heavily.
Kimura wants to control but Mcgee is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jun Kimura dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kimura connects with a jab.
Kimura circles away from the clinch attempt

and Kimura counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mcgee wants to get back to his feet but Kimura is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Mcgee keeping moving, preventing Kimura from controlling successfully.
Mcgee keeping full guard, as Kimura tries to pass.
Mcgee wants to stand but Kimura is controlling the position.

Kimura is working hard here to advance position.
Mcgee throwing rabbit punches from the bottom - showing the judges that he's keeping busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mcgee slaps away a takedown attempt from Kimura, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mcgee wants to clinch but Kimura slips to the side
and Kimura counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Mcgee clinches but Kimura breaks the clinch

and Kimura counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mcgee's guard now.
Mcgee looking for a sweep. Not yet Mcgee, not yet.
Mcgee is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mcgee seems to be looking for submissions.
Kimura wants to improve his position but Mcgee is controlling well.
Jun Kimura overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mcgee tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Kimura.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kimura wants to control but Mcgee is keeping busy.
Kimura is pressing down on Mcgee's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Kimura looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mcgee is one step ahead there.
Mcgee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kimura swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kimura has a closed guard, preventing Mcgee from standing up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mcgee gets caught flat footed, as Kimura shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Mcgee has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Kimura should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Mcgee has tightened it up now! Kimura should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Digger Mcgee!
