PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Skippy Jackson (ranked 1155 p4p, 1254 weight class) and Kristof Pardi (ranked 127 p4p, 143 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by Born on the Bayou. Pardi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Party Boy Theme kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Skippy Jackson could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Kristof Pardi's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Skippy Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kristof Pardi!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pardi tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jackson is in Pardi's guard.
Pardi has a closed guard, preventing Jackson from standing up.
Pardi is adopting a defensive guard.
Jackson landing with the ground and pound.
Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Pardi is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson wants to stand but Pardi has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Pardi looking to control.
Jackson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Pardi keeping moving, preventing Jackson from controlling successfully.
Jackson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pardi works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jackson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Pardi is pulling down on Jackson's head. It's preventing any offense from Jackson, at least for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Jackson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Jackson seems to be working for a kimura but Pardi defends the submission attempt.

Jackson is just content to waste time from the top position. Pardi takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Pardi had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jackson defends it easily.

Jackson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Jackson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jackson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Pardi is not content to let Jackson control the position.
Who's going to make the next move?
Pardi can't do much from the bottom here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Jackson tries to clinch there but Pardi circles away.
Pardi throws an off balance right hand
enabling Jackson to counter with a crisp jab.
Jackson staying out of range there.
Jackson throws a body punch but Pardi moves out of range.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jackson.

Jackson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pardi sprawls well initially but Jackson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Jackson is looking to take a break and control but Pardi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pardi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Pardi holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Pardi is looking for a sweep. Jackson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jackson passes into side control, despite Pardi's attempt to control the position.

Jackson content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Jackson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Jackson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Pardi gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jackson to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Pardi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Jackson looking to sit in guard and control but Pardi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Jackson is looking for a triangle but Pardi pushes his legs off easily.

Pardi decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jackson, up you get!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

and Jackson counters with a two punch combo.

Jackson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That's time! Jackson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Jackson walks into a left hand.
Jackson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Pardi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Jackson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jackson lands in his opponent's guard.

Pardi seems keen to control Jackson's posture.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Jackson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Jackson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pardi.
Pardi missing with a left hand there. Jackson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Jackson forces Pardi back against the cage and clinches.

Pardi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pardi throws an off balance right hand
and Jackson counters with a three punch combo that has Pardi backing up. Pardi nods at Jackson to acknowledge the strikes.
Jackson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Pardi swings widly with a right hand
and Jackson counters with a one-two to the body.
Nice straight punches there by Jackson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Jackson.
Kristof Pardi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Pardi throws a poor cross that misses

and Jackson counters with a crisp one two that drops Pardi! Jackson thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Pardi to his feet! Pardi is in big trouble!

Pardi is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jackson forces Pardi back against the cage and clinches.
Pardi is still on wobbly legs! Can Jackson finish him?

Pardi is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Jackson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Skippy Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pardi misses with a right hand
and Jackson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Pardi thinking.
Pardi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jackson.
Pardi seems to have recovered his senses.
Jackson shoots in but no luck this time.
Jackson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Jackson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pardi.
It appears Jackson was looking to counter with a kick there.
Pardi misses with an uppercut.

Jackson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Pardi wants to get back to his feet but Jackson passes into half guard.

Pardi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Pardi makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pardi.
Pardi trying to keep a closed guard but Jackson is proving a slippery customer.
Skippy Jackson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jackson is pushing down on Pardi's leg trying to pass to half guard. Pardi is fighting to maintain full guard but Jackson has managed to sneak the leg through.
Jackson passes into side control, despite Pardi's attempt to control the position.
Pardi is trying to get back to half guard.
Jackson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pardi can do to turn this around?

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Pardi looks to move to half guard but instead Jackson has passed into mount! Damn!

Jackson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pardi for as long as he can get away with.

Skippy Jackson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Jackson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
