Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Raykuza Maui!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 28 - 0, fighting out of London, Keone Kapisi!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Bruno Hogan and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maui tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kapisi swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kapisi stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
It looks like Raykuza Maui has been cut.
Maui walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Maui slips under a jab.
Kapisi slips under a jab.
A little jabbing left from Kapisi on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Kapisi misses with a double jab
and Maui makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Kapisi jabs at Maui's body.
Maui is breathing heavily.
Maui moves in looking to clinch but Kapisi pushes him off.
Kapisi's coach down at LET Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kapisi's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Kapisi cracks Maui with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Kapisi has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Maui to stand back up!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kapisi drops Maui with a big left hand! Maui is injured, injured bad! Kapisi jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Keone Kapisi!
