Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Silva (ranked 848 p4p, 1123 weight class) and Fotu Veainu (ranked 115 p4p, 151 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Fotu Veainu enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jackson Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fotu Veainu!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Veainu misses.
Veainu lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Silva at a distance.
Veainu throws a series of punches but Silva avoids them all with ease.
Silva drops down looking for a counter takedown but Veainu sprawls and moves away.
Veainu looks to throw the jab but Silva is out of range.
Veainu throws out a loose jab but Silva uses good head movement to avoid it.

Silva fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Veainu sprawls well initially but Silva persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Veainu is positioning himself well to prevent Silva advancing to mount.
Silva wants to pass to mount but Veainu is defending the position.

Silva seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Veainu does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Veainu looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Silva pushes past his half guard into mount!

Silva has hold of Veainu's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Veainu manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Silva definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Veainu is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Veainu is controlling an arm, preventing Silva from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Will Silva go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Silva is looking to control Veainu but Veainu is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Silva is trying to stick to Veainu's back but Veainu is turning into Silva. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Silva's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Veainu.

Veainu is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Silva is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Silva has escaped and now he's on top!


Silva avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Veainu looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Veainu swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Silva controls from within his opponent's guard.

Veainu looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Veainu has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Veainu has an active guard here but Silva has managed to pass into half guard.
Silva wants to free his trapped foot but Veainu is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Silva is working hard here to advance position.

Silva tries to pass the half guard into mount. Veainu knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Veainu can do anything to dispel that myth.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Veainu is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard.
Silva trying to mount his opponent but Veainu defends it.
Veainu wants to get back to full guard.
Silva is trying to control. Veainu wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Veainu is just holding on here. Silva manages to take his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Silva doesn't have the hooks in and Veainu manages to turn into his guard.

Veainu drops back, looking for a kneebar! Silva looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Silva looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Silva!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Silva is looking to take a break and control but Veainu is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Silva has hold of Veainu's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Veainu seems comfortable defending it but Silva has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Veainu is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Veainu is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Silva couldn't care less - he's delighted!
