PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tappy McOut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kris Angel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tappy McOut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kris Angel!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McOut looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Angel!
McOut takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McOut dominating with strikes here.
McOut lands a big elbow.
Angel is looking to get to half guard.
McOut cracks Angel with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Angel swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Angel flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

McOut has hold of Angel's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Angel manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Angel is in a horrible position here. McOut smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Angel is trying to escape the mount.
McOut content just to control the position here.
Angel tries to reverse the position but McOut maintains control.

McOut has control of Angel's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Angel regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Angel can't escape the position.
McOut tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Angel throwing hammer fists to the chest of McOut. What's that going to do exactly?
McOut blocks Angel's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Angel is trying desperately to improve position.
McOut is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Angel flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
McOut sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Angel tries to get back to half guard but can't.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
McOut looking to control and managing it successfully.
Angel punching to the body and holding on for dear life.
Angel chipping away with body shots but they're not going to hurt McOut.
McOut tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
McOut lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Angel bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
McOut is breathing heavily.
McOut is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

McOut working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Angel.
McOut looking to hit a scissor sweep but Angel is one step ahead there.
Angel missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Angel avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
McOut is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Angel tries to roll over but McOut keeps him under control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ground and pound from McOut.
McOut seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Angel throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

McOut is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Angel has managed to free his arm - good work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Angel sizes up McOut with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Angel feints and as McOut raises his hands in defense, Angel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

McOut escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Angel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tappy McOut dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Nice cross by Angel.
McOut throws a nice looking combination but Angel bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Tappy McOut is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McOut takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Tappy McOut has been cut.
Angel swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and McOut counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A nice inside leg kick there by McOut. That's going to slow Angel down.
Angel lands a nice shot that snaps McOut's head back.

and McOut counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Tappy McOut overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

McOut trying to control the position from guard on top but Angel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Angel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Angel has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
McOut controls from within his opponent's guard.
Angel lands a good elbow from the bottom.
McOut wants to pass the guard but Angel is keeping the position.
Angel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McOut's guard.
Angel working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of McOut's head.
McOut not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Angel content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

McOut tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Angel forces his way into half guard.
McOut is looking to improve his position.

McOut is trying to stand back up but Angel is controlling him
McOut is looking to control Angel's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McOut avoid being mounted?

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McOut is looking for a sweep. Angel is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Angel winds up and cracks McOut with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Angel seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Angel with a poor takedown
and McOut counters with a nice leg kick.
Angel is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
McOut tries to close the distance and clinch up but Angel swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Angel.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Angel will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tappy McOut will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Angel circles away from the clinch attempt.
McOut looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
McOut has a takedown stuffed.
McOut misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Angel getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
McOut walks into a stiff left hand from Angel.
Angel throws a one two combo.
McOut dodges the punch combination from Angel.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

McOut scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Angel striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
McOut is looking to take a break and control but Angel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Angel tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Angel throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Angel misses with a strike from the bottom.
McOut landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

McOut tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Angel was well out of range. Poor timing from McOut.
McOut thows a body shot but no joy.
Angel falls off balance throwing a combination
and McOut makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Angel really felt that one!

McOut looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

McOut preventing the sweep.
McOut wants to get up but he can't break Angel's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

McOut closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
McOut not doing much here.

McOut is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Angel defends it well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Angel tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tappy McOut.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for McOut, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
