Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between DeShawn West (ranked 692 p4p, 1365 weight class) and Twea King (ranked 101 p4p, 183 weight class). West comes to the ring accompanied by Can’t Be Touched - Roy Jones Jr. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, DeShawn West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Twea King!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Nice shot lands for King.
King scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
King slips under a jab from West.
King has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
King connects with a single shot there.
King tests West's chin there with a solid looking shot.
King digs a good hook to West's body.
West fakes high and swings low for a body shot but King manages to avoid it.
King lands a nice looking body shot.
A looping hook to the body misses from King. West does a little dance to reset his feet.
West keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

King scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

King swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

West pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've been told by West's head coaches at Cope's that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
West looks to land a left hand but King moved out of range nicely.
King connects with a body shot that sends West's belly button to the back.
King tries to bum rush West with a series of wild strikes but West uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
King throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
West was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
King dives in and grabs West's left leg, looking for a takedown. West pushes down on King's head and hops out.
A quick step to the side and West tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
DeShawn West is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
King lands a right hook to the body.

King ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
King rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and West counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
West drops his hands momentarily and King takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
King just misses with a punch to the body.
It looked like West wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

and King counters with a lovely straight right hand!
West avoids the body shot from King.
King connects with a nice looking jab.

King scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
West wants to get back to full guard.

King is sneakily working for an arm triangle but West sees it coming and defends easily.
King prevents West from standing back up.

West is in trouble now - King has advanced to mount!
West is squirming around, avoiding King's attempts to control the action.
King takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
West wants to hold on but King pushes him away.
King throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

King goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now West is on top in guard.
King has West pulled in close to control his posture.

King escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. West gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

King working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. West doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. West manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Twea King dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

West takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Twea King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
West takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

King has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Twea King showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! West's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

West lunges at King with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by King's hand.
King misses with a hook. West ducked under it nicely.
Nice defenses there by King.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
King dives in and grabs West's left leg, looking for a takedown. West pushes down on King's head and hops out.
King throws a lazy uppercut
and West counters with a nice uppercut.
DeShawn West has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

King is rocked!

West closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops King! West dives in looking to finish! King is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
