Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dick Pawlik (ranked 233 p4p, 235 weight class) and Olyn Seran (ranked 34 p4p, 35 weight class). Pawlik's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, John Butler - Ocean . Seran has chosen Sound of Silence - Disturbed as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pawlik just misses with a punch to the body.
Seran let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Seran pivots, looking for a leg kick but Pawlik is out of range and Seran settles back down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That was a close round but I would say that Dick Pawlik will probably get the nod.

Pawlik has gone for a leg lock! Seran slips out almost immediately though and dives into Pawlik's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Seran got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pawlik has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Seran has managed to get both his arms back between Pawlik's legs - danger averted.
Pawlik is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Seran is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pawlik pulls his head out easily.
Pawlik is nestled in close to Seran, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pawlik seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Seran has hold of Pawlik's hands but Pawlik slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Pawlik is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Seran still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Seran has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Seran thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Seran is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pawlik defends it well.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Seran in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Pawlik throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Seran tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Pawlik is in Seran's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Seran has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pawlik can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Pawlik slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
