PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Higanti Libat (ranked 24137 p4p, 24692 weight class) and Walay Buut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Higanti Libat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Buut closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Libat to the mat! Libat manages to get full guard.
Libat is wriggling around but Buut manages to pass to half guard.

Libat is doing well to control the position and prevent Buut from advancing to side control.
Libat is trying to maintain the position but Buut is very close to passing his half guard.
Libat controlling the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Libat has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Higanti Libat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walay Buut.

Libat looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Buut is fending him off so far but Libat persists. Nope, Buut circles away and we're back to standing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Libat shoots for a double leg takedown but Buut sprawls well. He's pushed Libat's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Libat enables Buut to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Libat manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Buut slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Libat pulls Buut in close to prevent any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Walay Buut dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Buut closes this distance looking for a takedown but Libat circles away.
Libat appears to be looking for a big counter.

Libat shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Libat was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Walay Buut has got the better of the ground game so far.

Libat wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Buut passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Buut wants to lay and pray for a moment but Libat keeps working.
Libat is looking to regain half guard here but Buut keeps moving and retains side control.

Walay Buut showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Buut throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Libat was covering up waiting for the punch and Buut finishes the takedown easily into guard.
