Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jushin Liger (ranked 23594 p4p, 24743 weight class) and Walay Buut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walay Buut will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jushin Liger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Ren Mimura and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Liger throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Buut was covering up waiting for the punch and Liger finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Liger drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Liger jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Buut trying to control the position.
Liger pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Buut is keeping the position for now.
Liger slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Liger postures up.

Liger controls from within his opponent's guard.
Liger distracts Buut with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Liger controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Liger drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Liger jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Liger passes Buut's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Liger is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Buut trying to hold on to Liger's head to control him but Liger postures up.
Well, if Liger is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Liger connects with a nice short shot to Buut's temple.
Liger not doing much here.

Liger has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Liger fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Buut to the ground. Liger is now in Buut's guard.
Liger not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Liger scoring with some ground and pound.
Liger postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Liger might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Liger working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Buut's head.
Liger's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Buut keeping full guard, as Liger tries to pass.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Liger pushing down on Buut's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Buut has hold of Liger's hands but Liger slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Liger has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Liger's corner is telling him to maintain position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Liger is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Liger is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Liger pushes down on Buut's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Liger looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Buut really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Liger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Liger is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Liger is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Buut can do to turn this around?
Liger performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Liger is looking for a kimura here.
Liger wants to pass to mount but Buut is defending the position.
Buut is breathing heavily.

Liger looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Liger trying to control the pace.

Liger moves nicely into side control.
Buut is letting Liger control him for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Liger's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Liger is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Buut is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Liger wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Buut, who protects the arm well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Liger is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Buut is trying to escape and Liger transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Buut is forced to tap! Nice work there by Liger! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jushin Liger!
Jushin Liger decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
