The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Waterman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ryan circles away.
Waterman darts in looking for a takedown but Ryan gets double underhooks and turns Waterman into the cage.
Ryan tries to counter with a clinch but Waterman shakes him off and moves away.
Waterman is trying to pull guard but Ryan has him pressed against the cage.

Waterman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Waterman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Waterman wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ryan, who protects the arm well.

Waterman isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ryan stacks Waterman on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ryan!

Waterman tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ryan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Ryan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Waterman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Waterman is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ryan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ryan's back!

Waterman is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Ryan just trying to survive but Waterman is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Waterman is trying to stick to Ryan's back but Ryan is turning into Waterman. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Waterman's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Ryan.

Waterman is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Ryan has his hands clasped together but Waterman extends and breaks Ryan's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Waterman.
