Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Bird (ranked 163 p4p, 298 weight class) and Juanito Escobar (ranked 23 p4p, 44 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Bird!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Juanito Escobar!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escobar lands a nice shot to the body.

Escobar's jab looks to have found its range, popping Bird under the eye.
Escobar thows a left - swing and a miss!
Bird ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Escobar moves away.
Bird throws a looping overhand right but Escobar ducks down to avoid it.

Bird darts in and clinches Escobar up against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Escobar fails to land.
Escobar is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Escobar misses with a hook to the ribs.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Escobar has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Bird had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Escobar defends it easily.
Escobar stands and throws Bird's legs to the side, diving into side control.
You can see the frustration on Bird's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Escobar moves into full mount!
Bird is trying desperately to improve position.

Bird shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Escobar but Escobar pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Bird drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bird jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Escobar controls Bird momentarily but Bird frees himself.

Bird drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Escobar manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bird has Escobar in his guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Escobar sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bird's guard.

Juanito Escobar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bird throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Bird looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Escobar is fending him off so far but Bird persists. Nope, Escobar circles away and we're back to standing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Escobar won't enjoy being in this position. Bird looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Escobar is tapping - it's over boys! Bird picks up the submission victory!
