Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gemechu McKraken (ranked 106 p4p, 96 weight class) and Eduardo Corassa (ranked 15 p4p, 12 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Gemechu McKraken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 10 - 2, fighting out of New York, Eduardo Corassa!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Corassa misses its intended target.
McKraken smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
A jab from Corassa misses.
McKraken tries to counter with a takedown but Corassa is quick to defend against it.
Corassa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Corassa throws out a counter right but McKraken avoids it with no problem.
McKraken ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
McKraken changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A jab from Corassa misses.
McKraken misses with a body shot.
A little jabbing left from Corassa on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
A bone on bone clash there as McKraken blocks the leg kick.

McKraken shoots in for a takedown but Corassa shows good takedown defense.
McKraken throws out a powerful jab.
McKraken throws a body punch but Corassa moves out of range.
McKraken fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gemechu McKraken. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McKraken connects with a right hand. Corassa shakes it off.
Corassa connects with a good right hand that stumbles McKraken. McKraken circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Corassa has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
McKraken dives in for a single leg takedown but Corassa sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Corassa scores with a shot to the side of McKraken's head.

Corassa scores with a shoulder strike.
Corassa misses with a shot to the kidneys.
I was talking to McKraken's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Corassa misses with a body punch.
Corassa throws a head punch that misses.
Corassa is looking to break free of the clinch but McKraken has double underhooks.
Corassa goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

McKraken is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Corassa can't fight it off and eventually McKraken manages to take the fight to the floor. Corassa looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McKraken goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Corassa rolls with the submission and now he's on top in McKraken's guard! Nice work there by Corassa!
Corassa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Corassa is fighting to break McKraken's control of his arms but McKraken is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Corassa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Corassa's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Corassa tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McKraken was well out of range. Poor timing from Corassa.

McKraken shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. McKraken showed some decent athleticism there.

Corassa wants to control but McKraken is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Corassa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McKraken. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McKraken wants to control but Corassa is keeping him busy.

Corassa blocking the ground and pound attempt from McKraken.

McKraken performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
McKraken trying to control the action but Corassa is working from the bottom.
McKraken wants to pass to mount but Corassa is defending the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Corassa wants to control but McKraken is keeping busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Eduardo Corassa seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Corassa with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling McKraken to score with a decent uppercut.

McKraken lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Corassa throws a chopping leg kick but McKraken manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Corassa throws a head kick but McKraken moves out of range.
McKraken missing with a left hand there. Corassa was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Corassa tries a quick counter leg kick but McKraken is wise to it.
McKraken throws a shot to the body.
McKraken takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
McKraken blocks a jab.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Corassa enables McKraken to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Corassa manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

McKraken trying to control but Corassa is working from the bottom.
McKraken trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McKraken won't allow Corassa to sweep him here.
Corassa preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

McKraken thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Corassa looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McKraken trying to control the position from guard on top but Corassa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Corassa looking to hit a scissor sweep but McKraken is one step ahead there.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

McKraken ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
McKraken swings away with a body shot that misses
and Corassa counters with a leg kick.
Corassa bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Corassa is looking for the big counter here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Corassa throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
McKraken wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Corassa moves out of range as McKraken strikes.

McKraken misses with a jab to the body
and Corassa counters with a nice uppercut.
McKraken works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

McKraken is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Corassa's half guard.
Corassa tries to push off, looking to stand up, but McKraken manages to move to mount!
BOOM! McKraken connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Corassa tries to hold on but McKraken pushes him away.

McKraken moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Corassa has worked his arm free - good work by Corassa!
Corassa takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McKraken with the ground and pound but Corassa regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
McKraken throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Gemechu McKraken overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McKraken trying to control the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McKraken is looking to take a break and control but Corassa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

McKraken is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Corassa has managed to free his arm - good work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Corassa tries to reverse the position but McKraken maintains control.
Corassa in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Corassa wants to hold on but McKraken pushes him away.

McKraken has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Corassa is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gemechu McKraken!
A very excited looking Gemechu McKraken made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
