PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luis Rose (ranked 5645 p4p, 4305 weight class) and Richard Fraser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luis Rose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Richard Fraser!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fraser swats away the attempt to clinch by Rose.

Rose looking to score a takedown here. Fraser is defending well but Rose drives through and ends up in Fraser's guard.
Rose trying to control the position from guard on top but Fraser is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fraser is on top in guard.

Fraser wants to control from the top but Rose keeps moving.
Rose wants to sweep here but Fraser controlling him for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fraser drops back, looking for a kneebar! Rose looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Rose looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Rose!

Rose misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fraser looking for a sweep but Rose has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Fraser manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Rose is trying to control the action in half guard but Fraser is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Rose throwing shots but Fraser is blocking nicely.
Fraser is not content to let Rose control the position.

Rose seems to be working for a kimura but Fraser defends the submission attempt.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rose is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Rose tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fraser knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Fraser wants to improve his position but Rose is controlling well.
Rose blocks the strikes from Fraser.

Rose is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Fraser sees it coming and defends easily.

Rose is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Fraser clinches.
Rose drops down looking for an ankle pick but Fraser pulls his leg out and moves away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rose looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fraser looks for a takedown but Rose sprawls well.
No luck for Rose with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luis Rose. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rose goes for a double leg but Fraser avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Fraser continues to drive forward.
Rose is breathing heavily.
Fraser drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rose gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Rose pulls guard effortlessly.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rose not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Fraser gets to his feet. Rose looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Rose slaps away a takedown attempt from Fraser, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Fraser defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rose.
Fraser tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rose defends well and Fraser ends up having to push Rose into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Fraser gets tackled into the cage by Rose. Rose maintains the clinch.
Fraser prevents the takedown attempt.
Rose gets underhooks to prevent Fraser's takedown attempt.

Rose has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Fraser is trying to keep an underhook but Rose manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Fraser is trying to control but can't.
Fraser is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rose's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rose's back!

Rose tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rose wants to control but Fraser is having none of it.
Fraser throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
You get the feeling that Rose really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Fraser thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Rose wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Fraser.

Rose wants to control but Fraser is having none of it.
Fraser throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Rose because Fraser loaded up on that one.
Rose is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Rose is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Fraser controlling his opponent.
Rose slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fraser seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rose does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Fraser looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Fraser escapes and gets back to his feet.
Rose looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Fraser shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rose pinned against the cage. Rose gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Luis Rose has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richard Fraser.

Fraser closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Rose tries to land knees in the clinch but Fraser avoids the damage to the body.
Fraser blocks an uppercut.
Fraser fails to pull guard.
Rose is trying to pull guard but Fraser has him pressed against the cage.

Rose tries to pull guard but Fraser forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Rose pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Luis Rose seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fraser shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rose pinned against the cage. Rose gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
It looked like Rose was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Fraser stuffs the takedown attempt from Rose. Rose gets slowly back to his feet.
Rose throws a head kick but Fraser moves out of range.
Fraser unleashes a big counter combination but Rose bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Nice takedown defense from Rose. No joy for Fraser on that attempt.

Fraser has taken the fight to the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rose blocks an elbow strike from Fraser.
Rose misses with a body punch.
Rose lands a nice knee to the body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Richard Fraser showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Fraser forces Rose back against the cage and clinches.
Rose lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Fraser taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Rose gets control of Fraser's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rose will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Rose wants to get back to his feet but Fraser is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Rose is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Fraser is aware though and is defending well.

Fraser gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Fraser moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
With the fighters up against the cage, Fraser throws an elbow but misses.

Fraser keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rose tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rose fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Fraser fails with the takedown.
Rose takes a swing at Fraser's ribcage but misses.
Fraser tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Fraser tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rose sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fraser somewhat.

Rose rushes Fraser and presses him up against the cage.
Fraser wants to break free but Rose has control.
Rose pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Rose breaks from the clinch.
Fraser darts in looking for a takedown but Rose gets double underhooks and turns Fraser into the cage.
Luis Rose has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richard Fraser.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rose.
Rose with a lazy takedown attempt
and Fraser counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A head kick misses from Fraser.

Fraser drives through and clinches with Rose against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fraser wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rose has him pressed against the cage.
Fraser wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Rose preventing the sweep.
Fraser is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Fraser keeping full guard, as Rose tries to pass.

Fraser makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Fraser.
Fraser looking to control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Fraser throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Rose fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Fraser.
Luis Rose is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rose tries to clinch but Fraser is having none of it.
Fraser steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Rose.
Richard Fraser seems to be getting the better of the standup.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fraser leaves Rose with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Fraser shoots in for a double leg but Rose sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Richard Fraser comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fraser has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
