Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jos Alves (ranked 3804 p4p, 5035 weight class) and Brendan Rowen (ranked 427 p4p, 494 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves blocks a jab.
Rowen takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Alves scores with a jab to the jaw.
Alves uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rowen.
Alves lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Alves looks to throw the jab but Rowen is out of range.
Rowen misses with a hook. Alves ducked under it nicely.
Alves uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rowen.

Rowen waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Alves. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Alves to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

It looks like Jos Alves has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rowen passes into half guard.
Rowen prevents Alves from improving his position.
Rowen passes to full mount!
Rowen sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Rowen lands a nice shot to the head.
Rowen controlling the position easily from mount.
Alves looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Alves tries to escape but he's let his defenses down in doing so and Rowen has slipped in the rear naked choke! Oh, that's tiiiiiiiiight! Alves is tapping! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
