Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tapani Kangas (ranked 4396 p4p, 2875 weight class) and Larry Rollo (ranked 464 p4p, 351 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Larry Rollo enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tapani Kangas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Larry Rollo!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Richard Clark and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kangas connects with a body shot.
Kangas lands a right hook to the body.
Rollo tries for a takedown but Kangas circles away easily
enabling Kangas to counter with a crisp jab.
Kangas throws a nice outside leg kick.

Rollo gets a double leg takedown into Kangas's guard.
Rollo wants to pass the guard but Kangas is keeping the position.
Kangas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rollo is one step ahead there.
Rollo wants to pass the guard but Kangas is keeping the position.
Rollo postures up.

Rollo trying to control the position from guard on top but Kangas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rollo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kangas is keeping the position for now.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kangas gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rollo wants to control from the top but Kangas keeps moving.

Rollo pushes down on Kangas's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rollo in particular looking to stall.

Rollo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Rollo wants to take a breather but Kangas is having none of it.
Rollo passes to side control.
Rollo tries to move into full mount but can't pass Kangas's legs.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rollo slows the pace down.

Rollo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Rollo swings around for an armbar but Kangas sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Rollo's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kangas's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Rollo seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Rollo looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Kangas!

Rollo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kangas knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kangas stops Rollo from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Rollo mounts Kangas! Really nice guard pass there!
Kangas tries to reverse the position but Rollo maintains control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rollo trying to control but Kangas is having none of it.
Rollo fails to move to back control.
Kangas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rollo on the ground.
Rollo tries to control but Kangas wriggling away.
Kangas is wriggling around trying to escape.

Rollo goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Kangas is on top in guard.
Rollo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Rollo is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Rollo keeping moving, preventing Kangas from controlling successfully.
Rollo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kangas manages to get himself to full guard.

Rollo is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Larry Rollo has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rollo passes Kangas's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Rollo perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Rollo trying to advance position but Kangas counters by regaining guard.
Rollo trying to control the position from guard on top but Kangas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rollo tries to free his leg and advance position but Kangas is retaining full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Larry Rollo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Kangas scores with a shot to the body.
Nice shot by Kangas.
Kangas moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kangas thuds his right hand into Rollo's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Rollo takes one to the side of the head.
Kangas lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Rollo at a distance.
Rollo misses with a takedown
enabling Kangas to counter with a crisp jab.

Rollo closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kangas quickly recovers to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kangas wants to control but Rollo passes into side.

We've been informed that Rollo has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Kangas looking for a sweep but Rollo has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Rollo not allowing Kangas to control his hands.

Rollo has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kangas's body.

Rollo is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Rollo has his arm under Kangas's chin here. Game over son! Rollo squeezes tightly and Kangas is forced to tap out!
