The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McQuirre lands with a slapping head kick.

Nastula closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nastula lands in his opponent's guard.

McQuirre scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Nastula throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and McQuirre counters with a crisp right hand that drops Nastula! McQuirre lets Nastula back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

McQuirre tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

McQuirre lands a big head kick that sends Nastula tumbling to the mat! McQuirre takes a step backwards and waves Nastula back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Nastula shoots in for a takedown but McQuirre shows good takedown defense.
McQuirre is looking to counter with head kicks.

Nastula misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nastula seems to have recovered his senses.
Nastula is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

I was talking to McQuirre's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
