Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Axel Foley (ranked 1569 p4p, 1546 weight class) and George Smith (ranked 209 p4p, 206 weight class). Foley comes to the cage accompanied by Beverly Hills Cop Theme. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 1, fighting out of London, Axel Foley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, George Smith!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foley dodges the punch combination from Smith.
Foley scores with a jab. Smith acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Foley just misses with a punch to the body.
Smith goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
We've been told by Foley's head coaches at The Nonce Hunters that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Foley throws a hook but Smith avoids it easily.
Foley fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Smith manages to avoid it.
No luck for Smith with that takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Foley tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Smith is in Foley's guard.
Smith not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Smith working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

It looks like Smith might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Foley is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Foley tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Foley to the ground. Foley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
