PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jamil Hurst (ranked 428 p4p, 396 weight class) and Bruce Kiwi (ranked 67 p4p, 58 weight class). Hurst comes into the arena with Keep Their Heads Ringin' blaring out of the sound system. Kiwi has chosen Reaper as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamil Hurst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bruce Kiwi!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hurst looks for a takedown but Kiwi sprawls well.
Hurst throws a body shot but no joy.
Kiwi works Hurst's body with a nice hook.
Jamil Hurst seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kiwi looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Hurst misses with a straight right.
Kiwi stuffs the takedown attempt from Hurst. Hurst gets slowly back to his feet.
Hurst misses with a body shot.
A nice side step and Kiwi releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Donk. Hurst catches Kiwi right on the button with a cross.
Kiwi moves away from the strike by Hurst.
Hurst has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Gunner's School of Combat in the buildup to the fight.
Hurst closes the distance and clinches up with Kiwi, looking for a takedown. Hurst pushes Kiwi against the cage but Kiwi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamil Hurst. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kiwi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hurst.

Hurst is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kiwi.
Hurst jabs Kiwi to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Kiwi lands a nice shot that snaps Hurst's head back.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hurst scores with a sloppy right hand. Kiwi should have avoided that one.
Kiwi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hurst.

A relieved looking Bruce Kiwi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
