Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ari Katajamaki (ranked 3760 p4p, 2988 weight class) and Shiro Ivancala (ranked 191 p4p, 159 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ari Katajamaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shiro Ivancala!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ivancala fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ivancala throws a body punch but Katajamaki moves out of range.
Katajamaki looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Ivancala is looking to clinch but Katajamaki is avoiding it.
Katajamaki closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ivancala circles away.

Katajamaki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ivancala's waist but Ivancala gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Katajamaki off to one side.

Katajamaki closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Ivancala felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Katajamaki is on top in guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Katajamaki throws an elbow that misses. Ivancala uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Katajamaki's guard. Nice move by Ivancala!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Katajamaki decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ivancala wants to improve his position but Katajamaki is controlling well.
Ivancala has a hand on Katajamaki's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Katajamaki takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
