This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 9 losses; Zhan Dhelan! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Kaoru Nagashima!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Nagashima throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dhelan's waist but Dhelan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nagashima off to one side.
Nagashima goes for a double leg but Dhelan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dhelan continues to drive forward.
Nagashima closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dhelan did well to prevent Nagashima getting side control. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Dhelan (0) vs (2) Nagashima
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Dhelan wants to control but Nagashima is keeping busy.
We've been hearing good reports from Dhelan's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Dhelan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nagashima gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Nagashima drops back looking for a leg! Dhelan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dhelan manages to kick Nagashima off! Nagashima jumps back into Dhelan's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nagashima looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Dhelan is defending well. Nagashima quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Dhelan has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Nagashima celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
