PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pedroca Altamiro (ranked 957 p4p, 1709 weight class) and Brandon Fisher (ranked 149 p4p, 248 weight class). Brandon Fisher will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pedroca Altamiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brandon Fisher!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fisher throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Altamiro sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Fisher gets a clinch.
Fisher has a couple of punches blocked by Altamiro.
Fisher misses with a hook to the ribs.
Fisher lands with a short shot to the head.

Altamiro breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
No joy there for Fisher, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A left lands for Fisher.

It looks like Pedroca Altamiro has been cut.
Altamiro swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Fisher catches Altamiro with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Altamiro has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Altamiro just misses with a punch to the body.
Altamiro looks to score with a jab to the body but Fisher is just out of range.
Altamiro throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

It looks like Brandon Fisher has been cut.

Fisher darts in and clinches Altamiro up against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Fisher.
Altamiro blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Altamiro stalling in the clinch but Fisher improves position.

Altamiro breaks the clinch.
Fisher cracks a nice hook into Altamiro's ribs.
Altamiro bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Fisher tries to clinch but Altamiro moves out of range.
Altamiro misses with a combination
and Fisher counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fisher scores with the left hand. Altamiro knows he should have avoided that one.

Pedroca Altamiro's cut is getting worse.
Fisher takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Altamiro staying out of range there.
Brandon Fisher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fisher cracks Altamiro with a big right hand and Altamiro goes down!
Fisher is stalling in the full guard.
Altamiro has a closed guard, preventing Fisher from standing up.
Altamiro is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Alpha Brasil that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Altamiro is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Fisher controls from within his opponent's guard.

Altamiro has his hands on Fisher's head, controlling the position.
Fisher is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Fisher's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Fisher wants to stand but Altamiro has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Fisher cracks Altamiro with a nice body shot.
A nice right hand lands inside from Fisher.
Fisher works on Altamiro's body with a couple of short punches.

Altamiro's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Fisher moves into the clinch.
Fisher struggles to land a body shot inside as Altamiro controls his hands.
Fisher lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Altamiro or not.
Altamiro's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Altamiro breaks from the clinch.
Fisher has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Fisher tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fisher looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Brandon Fisher dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Altamiro avoids the body shot from Fisher.

Fisher drops Altamiro with a right and a left! Fisher comes rushing in but Altamiro regains his composure and manages to keep Fisher in guard.

Altamiro is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fisher postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Altamiro utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Altamiro is adopting a defensive guard.
Altamiro keeping moving, preventing Fisher from controlling successfully.
Fisher stopping the sweep attempt from Altamiro.
Altamiro wants to stand up but Fisher is controlling him.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Fisher pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Altamiro is keeping the position for now.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Fisher is stalling in the full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
A jab from Fisher finds it's way through Altamiro's defenses.

Pedroca Altamiro's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Altamiro uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Fisher.

Altamiro has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Fisher lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Altamiro ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Altamiro swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Jeez, Pedroca Altamiro's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Still in the clinch, Fisher scores with a nice short uppercut.
Fisher swings wildly with an uppercut but Altamiro uses good head movement to avoid it.
Fisher throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Altamiros head.
Fisher lands a shot to the body.

Fisher misses with a body punch.

Altamiro manages to break the clinch.
Altamiro uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Fisher.
Altamiro throws a big counter combination but Fisher scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
