Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shug Skinner (ranked 338 p4p, 25 weight class) and Kazuo Takashi (ranked 44 p4p, 5 weight class). Takashi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: 吉田兄弟 Rising. The key to victory for Shug Skinner has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

With a record of 28 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Kazuo Takashi!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Takashi pushes Skinner up against the cage in a clinch.
Skinner lands a nice elbow.
Takashi lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Skinner.
Takashi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Skinner smiles and moves away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've been hearing good reports from Skinner's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Skinner sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Kazuo Takashi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
