Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Richard Hall (ranked 211 p4p, 679 weight class) and Kodiyak Redd (ranked 29 p4p, 39 weight class). Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Richard Hall!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kodiyak Redd!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hall gets a clinch.
Redd tries to throw a body punch but Hall avoids it by throwing Redd back against the cage.
Hall avoiding damage.
Hall has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Redd is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Redd can't find room to land a body shot as Hall controls the action.
Hall stalling the fight.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hall.
Redd letting Hall take a breather here.
Hall is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Redd breaks from the clinch.

Redd has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at LAFC Training Center. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Hall is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Hall tries to pass the half guard into mount. Redd knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Hall fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Redd sprawls well initially but Hall persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Redd is staying active underneath Hall, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Redd is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Redd is trying desperately to improve position.

Hall moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Redd has worked his arm free - good work by Redd!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hall controls the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Redd misses with a looping right.
Hall throws the kick towards the body but Redd avoids it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hall throws a front kick aimed at Redd's knee but Redd avoids it well.

Hall gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hall tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Redd smiles and moves away.

Kodiyak Redd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Redd misses with the combination.
The fight stays on the outside here - Redd looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hall tries to counter with a takedown but Redd is quick to defend against it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hall drags the fight down to the ground.
Redd wants to control from the top but Hall keeps moving.

Hall has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Redd can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Redd wants to pass the guard but Hall is keeping the position.
Richard Hall overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hall is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Redd is refusing to be controlled, as Hall sits in half guard.

Hall is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Redd sees it coming and defends easily.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hall is pressing down on Redd's thigh, looking to free his foot. Redd is holding on for now.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hall keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Redd ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hall moves away.
Hall on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Hall appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Redd fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hall avoids it really well and circles away.
Hall changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Hall with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Redd to score with a decent uppercut.
Redd shoots in and drives through. Hall sprawls well.
Redd throws a leg kick

so Hall counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Hall avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hall slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Redd has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hall is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Redd.
Redd is looking for a sweep.
Redd is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hall's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Redd makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Redd.
Hall stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Redd swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hall is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Redd is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Hall drops back looking for a leg! Redd is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Redd manages to kick Hall off! Hall jumps back into Redd's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Redd looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hall puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Hall has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Redd is controlling an arm, preventing Hall from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Redd has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Redd tries to break free.

Hall has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hall working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Redd is doing well to defend. Hall seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Redd is forced to tap and this one is over!

Richard Hall spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
