Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ramon Gracie (ranked 2928 p4p, 24334 weight class) and Jushin Liger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liger tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gracie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gracie blocks a head kick by Liger.
A punch combination from Liger misses.
Gracie moves out of range of the body kick from Liger.
Gracie seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Gracie swings for the body but Liger moves out of range.
Gracie connects with a nice looking jab.
Ramon Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie cracks Liger with an open hand slap.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Liger has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Liger gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gracie to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Gracie has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Gracie works to advance to full mount. Liger defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
