PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jed Brown (ranked 4608 p4p, 4749 weight class) and Nathaniel Harden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown shoots in looking for a takedown. Harden tries to sprawl out of it but Brown keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Harden manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Brown uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Harden.
Harden misses with a left hand
and Brown counters with a nice body shot.

Harden throws a hook to the side of Brown's head but Brown sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Harden tries a head kick but it misses.

Brown appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Harden takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Harden throws a shot from downtown. Brown moves away and avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brown fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Harden avoids it really well and circles away.
Nathaniel Harden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Harden tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Brown manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Harden lands a nice shot that snaps Brown's head back.

Harden tries to bum rush Brown with a series of wild strikes but Brown uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Brown jumps guard and drags Harden to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Brown wriggles free and stands up.
Brown dives in and grabs Harden's left leg, looking for a takedown. Harden pushes down on Brown's head and hops out.

Harden looks to land a body kick but Brown moved away.
Brown changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Harden tries to avoid it but Brown manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Harden to the ground. Harden escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Brown pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Brown lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Harden looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Harden wants to break free but Brown has control.
Harden has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Brown jumps into guard, dragging Harden to the mat.
Harden wants to stand but Brown is controlling his posture from full guard.
Harden is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Brown lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Brown is pushing down on Harden's leg trying to pass to half guard. Harden is fighting to maintain full guard but Brown has managed to sneak the leg through.
Brown really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Brown in particular looking to stall.

Harden is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Harden really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brown. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Brown will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Harden is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Brown has taken his back!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brown takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Brown, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
