Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zaid Al Balushi (ranked 32 p4p, 72 weight class) and Cornelius Myers (ranked 4 p4p, 10 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Myers throws a poor cross that misses
and Al Balushi counters with a straight right hand.
A big left from Myers misses.
Al Balushi looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Al Balushi scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Myers has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Myers throws a right hand that misses
and Al Balushi counters with a stiff right hand.
Al Balushi throws a nice outside leg kick.
Myers misses with an uppercut
and Myers takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Myers cracks Al Balushi with an open hand slap.

It looks like Zaid Al Balushi has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Myers connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Myers lands a big uppercut and Al Balushi crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Al Balushi looks OK. Myers waves Al Balushi back to his feet!

Al Balushi is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Al Balushi misses with a kick to the body.
Oh Al Balushi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Myers sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Al Balushi's defenses. It connects perfectly with Al Balushi's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!
