Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Lima (ranked 1191 p4p, 2404 weight class) and Hakim Werner (ranked 159 p4p, 285 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Werner fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Lima checks it well.
Lima tries to clinch
and Werner counters with a two punch combo.
Lima slips a jab and a cross from Werner.
We've been hearing reports that Lima has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Werner misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Hakim Werner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Werner is looking to slow Lima down with leg kicks.

Werner's coach down at Alpha Brasil was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Werner's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Lima drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lima jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Werner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lima. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That was a close round but I would say that Paulo Lima will probably get the nod.

Werner can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lima controls the pace.

Lima is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Werner is just riding it out for now. Lima eventually gives up the hold.
