Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Deringer (ranked 2563 p4p, 1556 weight class) and Aljamain Sterling (ranked 138 p4p, 89 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Sterling's choice of entrance music: I Love. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Aljamain Sterling!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Santiago Holmes and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deringer throws a shot to the body.
Sterling tries to clinch but Deringer is having none of it.
Sterling fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Deringer listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Deringer fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Deringer looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Deringer smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Deringer darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Deringer thuds his right hand into Sterling's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Deringer scores with a sloppy right hand. Sterling should have avoided that one.
Deringer tests Sterling's chin there with a solid looking shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Deringer bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Sterling's head.

Sterling is rocked!
Sterling's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Deringer connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sterling scrambles back to his feet.
Sterling is still on wobbly legs! Can Deringer finish him?

Deringer throws a good cross that connects.

Deringer connects with a body shot that sends Sterling's belly button to the back.
Sterling seems to have recovered his senses.

Deringer has closed the distance and engaged Sterling in a clinch.

Sterling is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Sterling is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Patrick Deringer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aljamain Sterling.
Sterling jumps guard but Deringer turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Deringer lands a big uppercut and Sterling crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Sterling looks OK. Deringer waves Sterling back to his feet!

Deringer scores with a jab. Sterling acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Deringer pushes Sterling up against the cage in a clinch.
Sterling goes for a takedown in the clinch but Deringer prevents it.
Deringer scores with a shoulder strike.
Deringer holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Deringer lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

A right hook to the body lands for Deringer.
Sterling fails to pull the fight into his guard.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Deringer.
Deringer lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Sterling or not.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Deringer creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Deringer is pushing Sterling up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Deringer breaks from the clinch.
Deringer lands a nice shot to the body.
Deringer scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Sterling doesn't seem bothered though.
Deringer lands a nice hook to Sterling's body. Sterling takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Deringer connects with a looping right hand.
Deringer fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Sterling looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sterling takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Deringer lands a big right hand that sends Sterling crashing to the mat! Deringer stays standing though and waves Sterling back to his feet!
Deringer circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Sterling to the canvas! Sterling doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Deringer keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Patrick Deringer!
The defeated Aljamain Sterling had this to say: 'Whether it's Bellator, OneFC, World Series, whatever, the door's open for me. Financial stability is the most important thing for me'.
