The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oquendo jabs Smyth right on the nose. Smyth blinks but takes it well.

Oquendo takes the fight into the clinch.
Oquendo lands a shot to the body.
Oquendo has a couple of punches blocked by Smyth.
Oquendo prevents Smyth from breaking the clinch.
Oquendo lands a left hand.
Oquendo lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Smyth has had enough of the clinch but Oquendo keeps him there for the moment.
Oquendo makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Smyth is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oquendo lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Smyth.
Oquendo misses with a hook from the clinch.

Oquendo throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Smyths head.

Oquendo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Oquendo swings for the body but Smyth moves out of range.
Cuervo Oquendo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Oquendo drives through and clinches with Smyth against the cage.

Oquendo throws a shot from downtown. Smyth moves away and avoids it.
Oquendo fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Smyth to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Smyth looks to clinch but Oquendo throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Smyth taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
