Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Trevor McCallen (ranked 1446 p4p, 1581 weight class) and Jerry Short (ranked 87 p4p, 91 weight class). Short is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jerry Short!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Paul Tew and Andrew Berry.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Short takes a jab right on the kisser.
McCallen with a jab.

It looks like Jerry Short has been cut.
Short on the wrong end of a nice hook.
McCallen lands a body shot.

Short shoots in and gets a takedown into McCallen's guard.
McCallen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Short.
McCallen keeping moving, preventing Short from controlling successfully.
McCallen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Short on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Short drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Short jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
McCallen on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McCallen tries to get out of the position.
Short distracts McCallen with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
McCallen preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
McCallen pulls Short in close to his closed guard and prevents Short from doing any damage or advancing position.
Short connects with a couple of short punches.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

McCallen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

My spies in Gold Samurai's Gym inform me that Short has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Short drops back looking for a leg! McCallen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McCallen manages to kick Short off! Short jumps back into McCallen's guard.

McCallen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Short is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McCallen is just riding it out for now. Short eventually gives up the hold.

Short is looking to advance position but McCallen won't allow it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Short sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. McCallen defending well though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Short closes the distance and clinches up with McCallen, looking for a takedown. Short pushes McCallen against the cage but McCallen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A left lands for McCallen.

Danga de danga de dang - McCallen scores with a four punch combination!

Short is rocked!
McCallen cracks Short with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Short tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but McCallen pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Short is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Trevor McCallen!
After the fight, Trevor McCallen was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
