Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ronaldo Gomes (ranked 2831 p4p, 4639 weight class) and Tapani Kangas (ranked 313 p4p, 467 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kangas displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gomes.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gomes takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Gomes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gomes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gomes remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
