Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Peterson (ranked 88 p4p, 325 weight class) and Ife Edwards (ranked 16 p4p, 47 weight class). Edwards has chosen Damian Marley - Road to Zion as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Peterson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ife Edwards!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Bruno Hogan and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson defending well as Edwards loads up on a big left hand.
Peterson has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Gym in the buildup to the fight.

Peterson moves away from the strike by Edwards.
Edwards scores with a hook to the body. Peterson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Edwards fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Peterson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Edwards now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Peterson moves to clinch but Edwards breaks away
and Edwards counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
A big right from Edwards misses.
Peterson missing with a left hand there. Edwards was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Peterson tries to clinch but Edwards is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peterson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

It looks like George Peterson has been cut.
Peterson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Edwards manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Peterson tries to bum rush Edwards with a series of wild strikes but Edwards uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Peterson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Edwards manages to avoid it.
Edwards looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Peterson fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Peterson has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Edwards.
Edwards does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Peterson scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Peterson slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Peterson throws a body shot but no joy.
Peterson loads up on a big right hand but Edwards slips the punch.
Peterson closes the distance but Edwards moves to the side
and Edwards cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Edwards lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Edwards tries to throw a body punch but Peterson avoids it by throwing Edwards back against the cage.
Peterson lands a right hand.
Peterson takes a shot to the head.
Edwards's coach down at Casa Steel was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Edwards's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Peterson lands with a right to the head.
Edwards tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Edwards lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Edwards escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Edwards throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Peterson works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Peterson lands an elbow that stopped Edwards in his tracks for a moment.

Edwards tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Peterson's elbow.

Peterson tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Edwards avoids it.
Peterson doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Edwards throws a jab but it's blocked by Peterson.
Peterson is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Edwards.
Peterson lands a jab to Edwards's midsection.

A looping hook to the body misses from Edwards. Peterson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Peterson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Peterson tries to clinch but Edwards is having none of it.
Peterson misses with a series of wild punches.
Edwards uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Peterson.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Edwards! But no joy.
Peterson's corner calls for a 1-2. Peterson obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Peterson closes the distance but Edwards moves to the side
and Edwards counters with a nice uppercut.
Peterson fails with an attempt to clinch.
It seemed like Edwards was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Edwards takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Edwards circles away from the clinch attempt.
Peterson throws a good cross that connects.
Edwards tries to land a front kick but Peterson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Peterson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Peterson throws a jab but it's blocked by Edwards.
Edwards slips under a jab from Peterson.
A little jabbing left from Edwards on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Peterson throws a right hand that misses
letting Edwards counter with a right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Peterson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Edwards throws a lazy right hand but Peterson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Peterson looks to clinch
and Edwards counters with a nice leg kick.
Peterson clobbers Edwards with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Peterson misses the jab.
Peterson tries to clinch up.
Peterson moves in looking to clinch but Edwards pushes him off.
A punch lands to the side of Peterson 's head but he takes it in his stride.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ife Edwards will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on George Peterson's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Edwards uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Peterson.
Edwards replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Peterson blocks it well.
Peterson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Edwards throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Peterson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Edwards in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
Peterson uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Peterson's jab looks to have found its range, popping Edwards under the eye.

and Edwards counters with a crisp right hand that drops Peterson! Edwards lets Peterson back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Oh Peterson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Peterson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Edwards feints and then cracks Peterson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Peterson down.
Peterson seems to have got his legs back now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Edwards scores with a sloppy right hand. Peterson should have avoided that one.

Edwards bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Peterson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Peterson throws a combination that misses
and Edwards counters with a huge left! Peterson is in big trouble! He's backing up but Edwards isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Peterson from any more damage. A dominating finish by Edwards!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ife Edwards!
