Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Shewmaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tripp Faller!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Winston Howard and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shewmaker lands with a nice body punch.
Shewmaker fails to land with a series of punches.
Faller with the counter takedown but Shewmaker avoids it easily.
Shewmaker throws a body shot but no joy.
Faller tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Faller fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shewmaker sprawls well initially but Faller persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Shewmaker wants to improve his position but Faller is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Faller thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Shewmaker gets back to full guard.
Faller stands and throws Shewmaker's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Faller throws a strike aimed at the side of Shewmaker's head but Shewmaker avoids it well.

Shewmaker tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Faller wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Faller wants to control but Shewmaker is keeping him busy.
Shewmaker is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Faller off and has taken his back!

Faller is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Shewmaker gets his way!
Faller is trying to break free.
Shewmaker is looking for the choke from the back position but Faller is controlling his hands well.
Shewmaker is trying to stick to Faller's back but Faller is turning into Shewmaker. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Shewmaker's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Faller.

Shewmaker has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

A relieved looking Steven Shewmaker thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
