Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Jones (ranked 4470 p4p, 4242 weight class) and Rob Smith (ranked 557 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joshua Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rob Smith!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jones on his heels. He'll look to pass Jones's guard now, I'm sure.
Jones kicks Smith off and gets to his feet.
Smith takes the fight into the clinch.
Jones prevents a takedown attempt there.
Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Smith looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt.
Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Smith avoids it really well and circles away.

and Jones counters with a crisp one two that drops Smith! Jones thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Smith to his feet! Smith is in big trouble!

Jones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Smith is still on wobbly legs! Can Jones finish him?
Smith gets through Jones's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Smith sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Smith throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Smith seems to have recovered his senses.
Smith scores with a nice strike.
Jones on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

and Smith takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

It looked like Jones was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Jones avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smith loads up on a big right hand but Jones slips the punch.
Smith lands a right hook to the body.
Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Smith is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Jones with a body shot.
Smith throws a lazy right hand but Jones sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Smith uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jones has time to react.
Jones walks into a jab.
Jones gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Smith to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are working up against the cage. Jones manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Rob Smith dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Smith lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Jones avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Smith throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jones on the side of the head.
Smith has managed to clinch.
Jones wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Smith has him pressed against the cage.
Jones wants to break free but Smith has control.
Smith is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Smith throws a punch but it's blocked by Jones.
Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Smith misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jones.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

It seemed like Smith was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Smith is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Smith scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Jones is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Smith can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
