PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Kleen (ranked 3121 p4p, 667 weight class) and Wanderlei Rua (ranked 413 p4p, 103 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Kleen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wanderlei Rua!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Sergei Dronov and Fedor Mirinova.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kleen with a poor takedown
and Rua counters with a lovely straight right hand!

It looks like John Kleen has been cut.

Rua bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Kleen! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Rua stands and throws Kleen's legs to the side, diving into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rua works to advance to full mount. Kleen defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Rua stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Rua waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Kleen. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Kleen to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

John Kleen's cut is getting worse.

Kleen working for submissions but it's allowed Rua to get to half guard.
Kleen trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Rua manages to pass to mount!
Kleen is in all sorts of trouble here.
Rua looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Rua looking to control and managing it successfully.
Kleen is looking to get to half guard.
Rua tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Kleen tries to buck Rua off but Rua takes his back!
Rua keeps control of the position easily here as Kleen tries to buck him off.
Rua's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Rua is continuing to stall.

Kleen looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Rua has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kleen's body.

I really don't envy Kleen right now.
Rua is riding his opponent, not letting Kleen buck him off.
Kleen trying to control the action but Rua just sinks the hooks in.
Kleen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Kleen is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Kleen just trying to survive but Rua is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
I would not like to be Kleen right now.
The adventures of Rua the control monster continue. Boring.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Wanderlei Rua dominated that round.
The cut man is working on John Kleen's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Rua darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Rua moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Kleen goes down! Can Rua finish him!?

Kleen is rocked!

John Kleen's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Rua stays in close to Kleen's body and controls the position.
Oh Kleen is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rua stops Kleen from standing up.

Kleen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rua defends it easily.
Kleen seems to have got his legs back now.
Rua pushes down on Kleen's leg and manages to get into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rua takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Kleen wants to improve his position but Rua is controlling well.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Kleen looks to clinch
and Rua counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Wanderlei Rua is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rua's corner calls for a 1-2. Rua obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Jeez, John Kleen's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at John Kleen's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Wanderlei Rua!
A very excited looking Wanderlei Rua made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
