PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Low (ranked 2477 p4p, 1373 weight class) and Arild Moen (ranked 283 p4p, 177 weight class). Arild Moen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shawn Low!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Arild Moen!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Low is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Moen.
A slow jab from Low misses its intended target.
Low throws out a loose jab but Moen uses good head movement to avoid it.

Moen closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Low's guard.
Low is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Moen is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moen looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Low on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Low tries to get out of the position.
Moen passes Low's left leg - he's now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moen uses his free foot to push down on Low's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Low.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Low's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Moen working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Low turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Moen off and cradles Low's limp body as Moen celebrates with his corner.
